For over 52 years Melanie has specialized in creating and painting in pastel and oil. Melanie signs her work using her maiden name Melanie Miller. She paints portraits, landscapes and many subjects including sea life and equestrian. Her latest passion is pet portraits. The feedback on her pet portraits as well as other work is that Melanie captures the likeness of personality of her subjects. Her painting style is a mix of impressionism and realism. Captured light in expressive brush strokes is a characteristic of Melanie’s style. Melanie’s portraits and works hang in businesses and homes around the country and numerous galleries. Her work has received numerous awards and been published in periodicals and publications throughout the south. Melanie founded the Piedmont Pastel society when she was teaching art at Queens University in Charlotte, NC and is still a member to this day. She has taught art classes and workshops regionally.
